From a very early stage i wanted my
undead army to look like they have
just been dug up! So I was going to
go for lots of browns and hopefully
make the miniatures look very dirty,
worn and falling apart.
First up we have a skeleton leader
and two skeleton spearmen. I love
the skeleton leader figure the pose
is such a good leader one and so I
mounted him on a ready made base ( Black
Cat Bases) which had a nice rock
he could stand on (oh and a skull!).
The skeleton spearmen are on bases
that I made myself with some rocks
and sculpting putty. All the bases
are covered in a nice fine green flock
I got from Black
Cat Bases. Some poeple suggest
painting the flock but I was impressed
enough with how it looked not to do
this.
|

More skeleton spearmen again on bases
I made myself with a little bag of
rocks.

My skeleton spearman unit complete
with leader.
|

Then I moved onto the Zombies. I didn't
want totally green looking rotten
zombies. The Celtos wargame rules
suggest Zombies are temporary vessels
for undead spirits so I thought the
zombies would look good if they were
recently dead. So here we have three
zombies with hand weapons. Bases are
ready made ones from Black
Cat covered in flock. The Celtos
miniatures come with a tab for slot
type bases so I had to cut that off
and pinned the miniatures to the base
to make them nice an secure.
|

Here are some more zombies.
This time they are carrying spears.
Not that it matters, in the Celtos
rules any weapons carried by the zombies
all act the same anyway.
|

And so onto the complete zombie unit.
I want to add a few more to the unit
but I'm going to try converting some
miniatures from other races in the
Celtos game. So I'll add a zombie
dwarf, a few orcs and an elf. Should
make the unit look quite good with
other races in it.
|

Now on to the Flesheaters! I really
like the flesh eater miniatures and
because of their name and reputation
I just had to put them on different
bases. So once again turned to pre
made bases from Black
Cat. This time I went for piles
of skulls! I really like the way the
flesheaters look on the skull bases.
In the picture we have the Flesheater
champion on the left and the Flesheater
Leader on the right. Again I kept
the clothing and armour looking like
it has just been dug up, but the flesheaters
themselves are supposed to be only
just dead? So I went for a bloodshot/pale
skin combo. Basically not very healthy
looking but still containing some
blood :)
|

Here we have the unit of flesheaters
in all their screaming glory. Again
with these pre made skull bases I
took off the tab from the base of
the miniatures and pinned them down.
With the bases being resin it was
very easy to drill through them for
the pins. I would definately recommend
doing it this way the miniatures feel
very secure.
|

So at last we come to the complete
flesheaters unit including the champion
and leader. I can't wait to have these
guys charging across the battlefield!
I'm still working on a few more leader
figures and the undead cauldron!
