Kaamados Squamata 15mm Sci-fi Miniatures

Critical Mass Games

I often go to various wargames shows with the hope that something will catch my eye, that impulse buy and coming away with something unexpected. Unfortunately I cannot remember the last time that happened? That is until a wander around this years Salute show.
There has recently been a surge in the number of 15mm sci-fi miniatures being produced, some good some not so good.
Just prior to Salute I had seen some pictures of some of Critical Mass Games walkers. I wasn't completely taken by the designs, but thought it worth taking a look at the show. Critical Mass Games were running a game as well as their stand. The game looked very good but what caught my eye were some of thier latest releases, in particular the range of Kaamados miniatures.

There were three packs of different infantry, two sets of regular infantry and one of auxiliaries. The picture above shows the Auxiliaries. They are essentially 15mm tall and have the look of scuba divers about them. The normal infantry are carrying a mixture of pistols and knives (including a standard bearer) while the auxiliaries have an array of shells, spanners and even carrying a box of ammo. There is a lot of variety with each pack containing 12 unique miniatures (£4.20 per pack). I liked that touch, normally you get a commander, maybe a radio operator or something and then the rest of the pack made up of two different poses for the rest of the infantry.

The miniatures themselves had little or no flash on them and I had no difficulty removing the mould lines. There's enough detail on the miniatures to make them look good without making them too fussy to paint. Some might not like the oversized equipment but I think these miniatures look great and are very different to a lot of other 15mm sci-fi stuff out there at the moment.

As well as picking up the Kaamados infantry I also treated myself to a pack of the Vivipara infantry (6 mini's for £3.20). Not knowing the background story about the miniatures I can only assume these are powered infantry.

They certainly looked the part. Again nice simple models. I'm looking forward to painting these up. Well done Critical Mass Games for getting some unique sci-fi models out there, I look forward to future releases.
